CLASSES
Performance Classes - Performance classes are by audition only. Audition results are final and are purely up to the Pincipals discretion. Students accepted into ‘Performance’ classes must attend a Ballet/ Technique class or Classical Ballet classes at an alternate studio. Performance students compete in 3 to 4 Eisteddfod competitions annually as well as festivals, functions and charity events.
Invitation Only Classes – Students are invited by the Principal to join these classes. These classes are for students who are exceptionally dedicated and committed to dance and are considering a career in the performing arts. Students who are accepted unto the Invitation Only classes must attend a Ballet/ Technique class or Classical Ballet classes at an alternate studio and Acrodance is highly recommended. Invitation Only students compete in 3 to 4 Eisteddfod competitions annually as well as festivals, functions and charity events.
Acrodance – students learn dance based tricks to put into routines and performances. These tricks require strength, flexibility and balance and are a great foundation to any and all dancers.
Ex-Students Class – This class is aimed towards students who have finished secondary school but still wish to maintain their dancing skills. This is not a beginner class but an intermediate/advanced class for dancers who have had a number of years training. No commitment is required just pop in whenever you are free and feel like some exercise!
General Classes - These classes are for anyone interested in dancing and having a good time! No audition is required. Students will work towards performing a routine in the annual concert.
HSC Dance – Rochelle is a fully qualified secondary school teacher and can take students through their HSC dance course as an external tutor. This can be done over 2 years (the preliminary course and the HSC course – years 11 and 12) or accelerated (students complete year 12 whilst still in year 11). Due to the complexity of the course it can only run if there is a minimum of 4 students and the time of the classes is worked to suit each group of candidates so it will not always appear on the timetable. Cost varies depending on the number of students taking the course and is calculated on an hourly basis.
Years 9 & 10 Dance – These courses are also available on request and again require a minimum of 3 students to run.
